In a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Mufti said, "The terrorist Houthi militia's targeting of civilian facilities and taking innocent lives, including visitors to the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, is among the greatest crimes for which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has promised painful torment." Al-Fawzan added: "Throughout history, no one has followed the path of this criminal gang in targeting holy sites and targeting those heading to His Sacred House without meeting doom and a dire end," asking Allah to "cut off the last remnant of these criminals and protect our country and the countries of the Muslims." The Houthi attacks on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh last Saturday led to the death of 12 people and the injury of 309 of various nationalities, including Umrah pilgrims wearing ihram garments prepared to board the plane carrying them toward Mecca to perform Umrah rituals, and others preparing to go to Medina to visit the Prophet's Mosque and the honorable Rawdah, and to have the honor of sending greetings upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and his two companions, may Allah be pleased with them both.
