Up Close - How Did the International Community Bring Iran to Bab al-Mandab? • Is the international community innocent of Iran's arrival at the Bab al-Mandab Strait? Iran, its Guard, and its militias in Yemen seizing control of Bab al-Mandab is not the only or newest surprise, considering a long record of shocks and surprises that the international community colluded in, paving the way for developments and repercussions leading to where things stand in early September 2026. Background: Collusion as an Early Policy We have said it and continue to say it every time and on every occasion: Yemeni naval and coastal forces are neither Wagner nor Blackwater; they are not a security company to protect the navigation, commerce, and tankers of a world that appeases Iran and flatters its militias—the primary source of danger and threat to navigation, commercial transport movements, and fuel and energy tankers. The world insists on ignoring the cause of the Yemenis and their long struggle to restore the state and end the coup, domination, and armed clerical terrorist dictatorship of the militias. It finds it easy to disparage the intelligence and competence of Yemenis, almost confining the matter with them and for them to protecting navigation and tankers in exchange for crumbs of hypocritical applause and praise. While ignoring the sources, tools, and acts of maritime and land smuggling and terrorism, the world, or the international community, did not even stop at practicing neutrality (..) toward the encroachment and penetration of Iranian militias in Yemen and the south of the Arabian Peninsula, and the undermining of the state and the rule of institutions and law. Rather, it went further, repeatedly colluding with the militias. It alone is directly responsible for entrenching the influence, Guard, and militias of Iran in the Red Sea, Hodeidah, and its ports; when it stood in the face of the liberation operation and prevented it from completing its mission of retaking the main port and advancing to secure Al-Salif, Ras Isa, and the entire northern coast up to Midi. The crime of rescuing the Houthi militias in Hodeidah and thereby retaining the influence and instruments of the Revolutionary Guard in the southern Red Sea is the crime of the international community, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council. Over the following years, it colluded with the systematic and continuous smuggling operations of Iranian weapons to the ports of Hodeidah and the establishment of an advanced base for the Revolutionary Guard in the southern Red Sea. Collusion through Appeasement What is happening now in the Yemeni islands and the strait—Bab al-Mandab—is nothing but a direct effect and natural result—one that the self-driven efforts and sacrifices of the Yemeni forces on the West Coast delayed for nearly 9 years—of what occurred in Stockholm in late 2018 and in the Security Council in early 2019. This is an overt professional record of an international community that sealed it with international resolutions, and even then colluded with circumventing them and foiling their implementation and the application of the unfair agreements that it sponsored and granted international legitimacy in the Security Council, as happened with the Stockholm Agreement regarding the city, ports, and revenues of Hodeidah, the prisoners' file, and the siege of Taiz. When hostile and terrorist acts multiplied and expanded at sea and against commercial vessels and tankers, and nascent naval and coast guard forces began to emerge on the West Coast and Bab al-Mandab—remaining without any support and with very modest capabilities—confronting smuggling operations and shipments of missiles, drones, weapons, ammunition, and military and combat technologies from Iran and its Guard to its militias and its advanced naval base in Hodeidah, international hypocrisy colluded even against international interests. It settled for the fanfare of announcing and dispatching vague maritime missions that did not prevent the targeting and striking of ships, nor did they stop maritime transport from repeatedly diverting around the Cape of Good Hope, nor did they ever once deal with the source of the danger and threat. Finally, they did not prevent or curb the return of piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden. All of this happened while the ports of Hodeidah effectively and repeatedly turned into a real source of danger, taking turns striking, burning, sinking, and hijacking ships and their crews in the Red Sea, threatening global energy markets, raising the cost of shipping and insurance, and even prohibiting transit and navigation. Meanwhile, the international community and international organization maintained a stance that strongly supported clinging to the Stockholm Agreement and the Security Council resolution that adopted it, as well as providing scandalous international cover for the continued obstinacy of the militias, their refusal to implement the provisions and obligations of the agreement, and their complete disruption of it. The Inevitable Outcome It has been recorded in the register of the international farce in Yemen that the Security Council and the United Nations disgracefully failed even to protect the UN mission (UNMHA) in Hodeidah, and more than one mission head, his deputies, and operational staff were subjected to assaults, detention, and intimidation, up to the bombing of the UN and mission convoy, and the detention of the mission and government negotiators on a ship off the coast at gunpoint. Iran and its Guard ultimately laying hands on the second international maritime corridor after Hormuz represents the inevitable, simple, yet catastrophic end of efforts and objectives that moved and sailed on land and water for nearly a full decade, aided by generous assistance and services of collusion, neglect, leniency, and chronic international games that turned the Yemeni file, and the crisis and suffering of Yemenis, into a bargaining chip for dishonest compromises and brokerages on the table of malicious conflict management and in the dark backrooms. The international community, for its part, must bear the full consequences, while we must find our own way, and find, with all determination and faith, a way to rid ourselves of the illusions that hold us, our cause, and our future hostage to an international legitimacy and an international community that have restored no right, nor do we need a deed from them to reclaim our state and our country.

• هل المجتمع الدولي بريء من وصول إيران إلى مضيق باب المندب؟
قبض إيران وحرسها ومليشياتها في اليمن على باب المندب ليست المفاجأة الوحيدة أو الجديدة بالنظر إلى سيرة طويلة من الصدمات والمفاجآت التي تواطأ عليها المجتمع الدولي ومهدت الطريق أمام التطورات والتداعيات وصولا إلى ما وصلت إليه في مطلع سبتمبر أيلول 2026.
خلفية : التواطؤ سياسة مبكرة
قلناها ونقولها في كل مرة ومناسبة: ليست القوات اليمنية البحرية والساحلية؛ فاجنر، ولا بلاك ووتر.
وليست شركة أمنية لحماية ملاحة وتجارة وناقلات العالم الذي يهادن إيران ويداهن مليشياتها مصدر الخطر والتهديد الرئيس للملاحة ولحركة النقل التجاري ولناقلات الوقود والطاقة. حيث يصر العالم على تجاهل قضية اليمنيين ونضالهم الطويل لاستعادة الدولة وإنهاء انقلاب وتسلط المليشيات وديكتاتورية الإرهاب الكهنوتي المسلح، ويستسهل الاستهانة بذكاء وكفاءة اليمنيين ويكاد يحصر المسألة معهم ولديهم في حماية الملاحة والناقلات مقابل فتات من تصفيق وإشادات صفراء.
وبينما يتجاهل مصادر وأدوات وأعمال التهريب والإرهاب البحري والبري، فإن العالم أو المجتمع الدولي لم يكتف حتى بممارسة الحياد (..) تجاه تغول وتوغل المليشيات الإيرانية في اليمن وجنوب الجزيرة العربية وتقويض الدولة وحكم المؤسسات والقانون، بل ذهب أبعد من ذلك إلى التواطؤ مع المليشيات مرارا. وهو وحده المسؤول المباشر عن توطين نفوذ وحرس ومليشيات إيران في البحر الأحمر والحديدة وموانئها؛ عندما وقف في وجه عملية التحرير ومنعها من استكمال مهمتها في انتزاع الميناء الرئيس والتقدم لتأمين الصليف ورأس عيسى وكامل الساحل الشمالي حتى ميدي.
جريمة استنقاذ المليشيات الحوثية في الحديدة وبالتالي استبقاء نفوذ وأدوات الحرس الثوري في جنوب البحر الأحمر هي جريمة المجتمع الدولي والأمم المتحدة ومجلس الأمن الدولي. وعبر السنوات التالية تواطأ مع عمليات التهريب المنظم والمستمر للسلاح الإيراني إلى موانئ الحديدة وتوطين قاعدة متقدمة للحرس الثوري في جنوب البحر الأحمر.
التواطؤ بالمهادنة
إن ما يحدث الآن في الجزر اليمنية والمضيق - باب المندب- ما هو إلا أثر مباشر ونتيجة طبيعية -أخرت الجهود والتضحيات الذاتية للقوات اليمنية في الساحل الغربي الوصول إليها قرابة 9 أعوام- لما حدث في ستوكهولم أواخر 2018 وفي مجلس الأمن مطلع 2019.
هذه سيرة مهنية معلنة لمجتمع دولي عمدها بقرارات دولية وحتى هذه تواطأ مع التحايل عليها وإفشال تنفيذها وتطبيق الاتفاقيات المجحفة التي تبنتها وأعطتها صفة المشروعية الدولية في مجلس الأمن، مثلما حدث مع اتفاقية ستوكهولم بشأن مدينة وموانئ وموارد الحديدة وملف الأسرى وحصار تعز.
وعندما تضاعفت واتسعت الأعمال العدائية والإرهابية بحرا وضد السفن التجارية والناقلات، وأخذت تنهض قوات بحرية وخفر سواحل ناشئة في الساحل الغربي وباب المندب - بقيت دون أي دعم وبقدرات جد متواضعة - وتتصدى لعمليات التهريب وشحنات الصواريخ والمسيرات والأسلحة والذخائر والتقنيات العسكرية والحربية من إيران وحرسها إلى مليشياته وقاعدته البحرية المتقدمة في الحديدة، تواطأ النفاق الدولي حتى ضد المصالح الدولية، واكتفى ببهرجة إعلان وتسيير مهام بحرية فضفاضة؛ لم تمنع استهداف وضرب السفن كما، لم تحل دون تحول النقل البحري مرارا عبر رأس الرجاء الصالح مرارا، ولم يحدث أن تعاملت ولا مرة واحدة مع مصدر الخطر والتهديد. وأخيرا لم تحل أوتحد من عودة عمليات القرصنة في خليج عدن.
كل هذا حدث وتحولت موانئ الحديدة فعليا وتكرارا إلى مصدر خطر حقيقي تعاقب على ضرب وإحراق وإغراق وخطف السفن وطواقمها في البحر الأحمر وتهديد أسواق الطاقة العالمية ورفع كلفة النقل والتأمين وحتى منع العبور والملاحة، وحافظ المجتمع والمنظمة الدوليان على الموقف المؤيد وبشدة؛ للتمسك باتفاق ستوكهولم وقرار مجلس الأمن الذي تبناه، وللرعاية الدولية الفاضحة لاستمرارية تعنت المليشيات ورفضها تنفيذ بنود والتزامات الاتفاق وتعطيله بصورة كاملة.
النتيجة الحتمية
لقد دُون في سجل المهزلة الدولية في اليمن أن مجلس الأمن والأمم المتحدة فشلا فشلا مخزيا حتى في حماية البعثة الأممية (أونمها) في الحديدة وتعرض أكثر من رئيس للبعثة ومساعديه وطواقم العمل للاعتداء والاحتجاز والترهيب حد تفجير موكب الأمم والبعثة واحتجاز البعثة والمفاوضين الحكوميين في سفينة قبالة الساحل تحت تهديد السلاح.
إن وضع إيران وحرسها في نهاية المطاف اليد على الممر الملاحي الدولي الثاني بعد هرمز يمثل النهاية الحتمية البسيطة والكارثية معا لمجهودات وأهداف راحت تتحرك وتبحر على الأرض وفي المياه قرابة عقد كامل وبفضل مساعدات وخدمات سخية من التواطؤ والتجاهل والتساهل والألاعيب الدولية المزمنة التي حولت الملف اليمني وأزمة ومعاناة اليمنيين إلى ورقة سمسرة ومقايضات غير نزيهة على طاولة إدارة الصراعات الكيدية وفي الكواليس السوداء.
على المجتمع الدولي هو الآخر أن يتحمل العواقب كاملة. وعلينا نحن أن نجد طريقنا بأنفسنا، وأن نجد بكل إصرار وإيمان طريقة للتخلص من الأوهام التي ترتهننا وقضيتنا ومستقبلنا لدى شرعية دولية ومجتمع دولي لم يعيدا حقا ولا نحتاج إلى صك منهما لاستعادة دولتنا وبلادنا.
