It was confirmed this afternoon that the Kahbub mountains have been completely cleared of any armed presence of Houthi militia operatives. This mountain range was the most difficult of all in the trajectory of the ground advance in 2016, and the forces there remained stalled in place for nearly a full year. Journalists who covered the war back then will remember that. The military breakthrough carried out by the Southern Giants Brigades two days ago was a stunning victory, but it did not—logically, militarily, and on the ground—permit an advance toward Mokha while the rear of these forces was exposed toward the Kahbub mountains, alongside a Houthi military presence in the coastal city of Dhubab. Following the clearing of Kahbub, the next step will be the liberation of the center of Dhubab city, and at that point al-Omari camp will be the next target before reaching Mokha. In al-Wazi'iyah, the Homeland Shield Forces achieved significant progress, and liberating the district is a matter of time. At that point, the perimeter of Mokha will be completely secure, securing the advance of forces along the coast. On the ground, what is the situation of the Houthi militia forces?
In my assessment, the Houthi has exhausted his mobilization operations and will not be able to add new mobilizations on the scale of what he mobilized during the months of August, September, and October. Therefore, the massive attrition to which these forces are being subjected will clearly expose their vulnerabilities over the coming days. These forces are now undergoing a massive battle of attrition due to strikes by warplanes, drones, and direct fighting. Consequently, their capacity for steadfastness—in my assessment—will not last very long. During these battles, the Houthi loses hundreds of his fighters under the weight of bombardment and clashes, and a large portion of them were mobilized under threat and intimidation. For that reason, many of them are not fighting out of will or conviction. The important thing today is for the rest of the fronts to move so that the rings of the siege around the militia become complete. As for victory over them, by Allah, we do not doubt it, and it is inevitably coming. Fathi Bin Lazraq
