*The Yemen Scholars Association, in a statement issued by it today, condemns the aggression of the Houthi militias against the Two Holy Sanctuaries and responds to Al-Khalili, Mufti of Oman, and Al-Ghariani, Mufti of Libya, regarding their support for the Houthi gang* Text of the statement: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful A statement issued by the Yemen Scholars Association regarding the condemnation of the Houthi gang's aggression against the sanctity of the Holy Sites and responding to those who sympathize with it and downplay its danger. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, Who said in His definitive revelation: - {Indeed, the first House established for mankind was that at Bakkah - blessed and a guidance for the worlds} and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, who said in what was narrated by the two Sheikhs: {Indeed, this city was made sacred by Allah on the day He created the heavens and the earth, so it is sacred by Allah's sanctity until the Day of Resurrection}. As for what follows:-
The Yemen Scholars Association, as it strongly condemns and denounces what the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia has undertaken in a sinful targeting attempt towards Holy Mecca, the Sacred City and the Qiblah of the Muslims, in the second attack of its kind undertaken by this rogue, aggressive militia against the holy lands, affirms the following:-
First: - The obligation to venerate the sanctity of the Sacred House, as clearly and decisively proven by the texts of the Book and the Sunnah. The Exalted said: {And when We made the House a place of return for the people and a place of security}, and Glorified is He said: {And whoever intends therein any deviation through wrongdoing - We will make him taste of a painful punishment}. Thus, He threatened with the severest punishment anyone who even intends deviation in it, even if by mere intent, so how about whoever actually targets it? And it has been confirmed from him, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he addressed the Kaaba on the Day of the Conquest saying: {How sweet you are and how sweet is your scent, how grand you are and how grand is your sanctity} (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah and authenticated by Al-Albani). And the people of knowledge, both the predecessors and successors, have unanimously agreed upon the prohibition of aggression against Mecca and its sanctuary in any form whatsoever.
Second: - This sinful targeting is not an incident isolated from its ideological roots; rather, it is an extension of the path of esoteric (Batini) movements throughout history in their hostility toward the Holy Sites and violating them, from the Qarmatians' violation of the Sacred House in ancient times to the bloody events that Holy Mecca witnessed, linked to the Iranian regime—the backer of the Houthi militia—after the occurrence of the Khomeinist revolution. In the year 1407 AH, the well-known riots took place in Mecca, with their clashes and the fall of large numbers of dead and wounded. Then followed the events of the year 1409 AH, when bombings took place in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque, and on that day the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the involvement of a terrorist group linked to Hezbollah, backed by the Iranian regime, in standing behind them. What the Houthi militia is practicing today is an extension of that same path that disdains the sacred sanctities of Muslims and violates them under false slogans.
Third: The attempt to target Holy Mecca and the Holy Sites is a crime strictly forbidden by Islamic law; sinful is its perpetrator, whoever is pleased with it, and whoever remains silent without denouncing it while being capable of speaking out. And the Yemen Scholars Association, while condemning this sinful Houthi aggression against the land of the Two Holy Sanctuaries, declares its complete confidence in the ability of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect the Two Holy Sanctuaries and preserve the security of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors to the House of Allah, and to confront all attempts of treacherous Houthi aggression and terrorism no matter how repeated. The Association also praises the vigilance of the Saudi defenses that foiled this sinful targeting, and affirms that this deviant militia will not weaken the Kingdom's determination to guard the holy sites and serve their visitors, if Allah wills. In this context, the Association praises the stances of the venerable scholars who took the initiative to declare their clear legal stance in condemning this attack without hesitation, in fulfillment of the trust of sacred knowledge.
Fourth: - The Yemen Scholars Association expresses its astonishment and severe condemnation of the ambiguous stances, or those aligned with the Houthi militia's discourse, issued by some affiliated with knowledge and Da'wah, which is unbefitting the trust of knowledge, and under which there is fear of concealing the truth, against which Allah issued a threat by saying: {Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance} the verse ....
The Yemen Scholars Association specifically mentions what was issued by the two Sheikhs, Al-Sadiq Al-Ghariani - Mufti of Libya - and Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalili - Mufti of Oman -, including the former's statement blessing the empowerment of the Houthis and Iran over the Bab al-Mandab Strait under the pretext of supporting Palestine and confronting the Israeli occupation, and the statement of the second, the Mufti of Oman, Sheikh Al-Khalili, and his regret over the statements of some Muslim scholars regarding the Houthi militia, claiming its confrontation with the Israeli occupation since its inception, and that one should not be preoccupied with explaining its crimes and aggression for the sake of confronting the occupation. While the Association appreciates the importance of the Palestinian cause and the obligation of Muslims to champion it as a just cause, it affirms that what the Houthi militia has committed against the Yemenis—killing, displacement, destruction of mosques, persecution of scholars and preachers, and erosion of the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah—is not a side issue, nor is it permissible to overlook, be silent about, or turn a blind eye to under the pretext of supporting Palestine. Raising the banner of resistance does not purify a criminal sectarian project serving an aggressive, expansionist project linked to Wilayat al-Faqih, which has known ambitions in Yemen and the region—especially the sanctities of Muslims and the Two Holy Sanctuaries.
The Association calls upon the two Sheikhs to look closely at the reality of Yemen and communicate with its scholars, for they know best the catastrophe of their country. And as the Association affirms that issuing a fatwa is a trust, and that judging a matter stems from its proper conception, it views this discourse issued by the two Sheikhs as an obvious slip and a grave error in applying the ruling to the reality of Yemen; it is not permissible to imitate them or follow them in that. The Association stresses that it is not permissible to reduce the issue of Yemen to the Red Sea and claims of supporting Palestine, for the Houthi project is based on killing, displacement, destruction, violation of the rights of Yemenis, bombing of mosques, and persecution of scholars and preachers, alongside an ideological project that defames the Companions and spreads polytheistic practices, innovations, and superstitions. Raising the slogan of supporting Palestine does not grant the Houthis legitimate endorsement, nor does it mean holding the blood, honor, and wealth of Yemenis cheap, nor does it justify handing over the Bab al-Mandab Strait to a militia linked to the aggressive Iranian axis. Therefore, the Yemen Scholars Association calls upon the two Sheikhs, Al-Ghariani and Al-Khalili, to review their fatwa, communicate with the scholars of Yemen, and listen to the tragedies of its people. It also calls upon the scholars of the Arab world and all scholars of the Ummah to make the truth clear and not leave the arena to fatwas that justify injustice or make the strife more complicated, affirming the right of the Yemeni people to restore their state and institutions and end the control of the deviant Houthi militia. We ask Allah to preserve His Sacred House from every harm, to spare Muslims the evil of every aggressor and deviant, to inspire us with right guidance, and to guide us to the straight path. And may peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his family and companions. Yemen Scholars Association
